How to Prepare Gupchup Receipe
Gupchup, also known as golgappa or pani puri, is a popular street food in India, especially in the northern and eastern parts of the country. It consists of a small, crispy, hollow fried dough ball filled with spicy mashed potatoes and served with tangy tamarind water. Here's a simple recipe to prepare gupchup at home:
Ingredients:
1 cup semolina (sooji)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
1/4 tsp baking soda
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
2-3 boiled potatoes, mashed
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp chaat masala
1/2 tsp red chili powder
Tamarind water (Imli ka pani)
Coriander leaves and chopped onion for garnishing
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix together semolina, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
Add enough water to make a stiff dough. Knead for a few minutes until smooth.
Cover and let the dough rest for 10-15 minutes.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
Roll out the dough into small balls, about 1-inch in diameter.
Flatten each ball slightly and fry them in hot oil until they puff up and turn golden brown. Remove and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
In a bowl, mix mashed potatoes, cumin powder, chaat masala, and red chili powder.
Using a small knife, make a hole in each fried dough ball and fill with the potato mixture.
Arrange the filled balls on a plate and pour tamarind water over them.
Garnish with chopped onion and coriander leaves.
Your delicious gupchup is now ready to serve. Enjoy it as a snack or as a party appetizer!
